H-E-B Continues To Aid MD Anderson Cancer Center Through Fundraisers

H-E-B is once again joining with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in an effort to end cancer in Texas, across the nation and around the world. Through Tuesday, Sept. 8, H-E-B customers can make $1, $3 and $5 donations during H-E-B’s fifth annual statewide fundraising campaign. Since the launch in 2016, H-E-B has raised more than $1 million in support of cancer research and patient programs at MD Anderson.

Donations can be made during checkout at H-E-B stores throughout Texas. New this year, customers also can donate at self-checkout registers and online or via the My H-E-B mobile app.

“During these unprecedented times, we are reminded that the fight to end cancer does not take a break,” said Winell Herron, group VP of public affairs, diversity and environmental affairs, and a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors. “Along with our ongoing support, H-E-B is proud to invite our customers to join us in supporting MD Anderson’s unrelenting commitment to making cancer history.”

For nearly two decades, H-E-B’s long-standing commitment to MD Anderson includes ongoing monetary support to benefit its fundraising efforts, educational programming and medical research. Funds also have supported projects aimed at improving survivorship outcomes for cancer patients through exercise and diet at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.

“Continued support of our mission is crucial for countless cancer patients and their families counting on us to provide high-quality, safe and innovative care during a global pandemic and at all times,” said Peter WT Pisters, MD, president of MD Anderson. “We are extremely grateful to H-E-B, a long-standing leader in our community, for its generosity and steadfast commitment to work in Texas and around the globe.”
